A blog is a webpage were the creator is able to share their content which can be anything from writing to photography. A blog allows users to view the creator's contents and sometimes leave comments.
A wiki is a webpage which allows users or anyone with permission to create, add or remove content as they wish. They are opensource which gives users permission to remove or edit information if it is inaccurate as described in The InformationWeek article about wikis.
In the time we live in, what the high use of digital technology convergence is necessary. Blogs and wikis are growing in popularity and are becoming leading sources of news and information for a lot of users. As seen in of the readings Brooklyn Blog Helps Lead to Drug Raid we see that a few blog users led to a large drug bust that had gone unnoticed for a long time. The way we hear and learn of news is changing rapidly, blogs and wikis are able to keep up with our need to know facts immediately because we can constantly change or publish new information.
A new use of wiki could be for schoolwork. Students can post math problems or other questions and bloggers or other students from that class could answer to help. (I am not sure if this already exists I have seen websites like this but they are not wikis)

Yes I also agree Wiki can be used for educational purposes. I feel as though most of us have that opinion about Wiki's new usage possibilities. We are lucky to be able to experience such technological advances, and what better way to portray our tech-savvy generation by having us utilize online resources like Wiki, to be able to conduct classes on such a platform. I don't think it's a common thing yet for schools to allow the usage of Wiki to conduct a class, but I'm sure sooner or later class will be focused through such platforms like Wiki.
